Unique fruits
The ones you see once at a market and never again. Can they grow here, and do they taste better fresh?
Don't just eat interesting food. Grow some.
Why this, why me
I have spent a long time eating food in quantities that make people uncomfortable. The more I ate, the more I cared about where it came from, what it tasted like at its best, and why the best version is almost never in the supermarket.
So the obsession went upstream. Grow is where I try to raise the strange and the excellent myself, from a windowsill tray of microgreens to fruit most people have never tasted, and report back honestly on what works, what doesn't and whether it was worth it.
What we grow
01
The ones you see once at a market and never again. Can they grow here, and do they taste better fresh?
02
Heirlooms, oddballs and the vegetables other cuisines take for granted.
03
The fastest payoff in growing: seed to plate in days, on a windowsill.
04
Jar, water, patience. The cheapest way to put something alive on the table.
05
Where home growing beats buying every single time, and which herbs actually justify the space.
06
What the label means, what it doesn't, and when it changes the taste.
07
Edible flowers, unusual leaves, ingredients that start as a plant you'd walk past.
The series
One plant. One honest attempt. Every episode starts with something I ate and loved and ends with a verdict:
